THE FINANCIAL SECTION  
  
Basic things about Financials
Some of it is automatically added from other sections
Some of it may be manually added
CPT codes are automatically added

the Financial section notes activities within the encounter that require charges and payments. Most charges are added automatically, but you can add or remove charges and payments as necessary.
Title card
The system may apply charges automatically based on entries in the Vitals section or when orders are performed on the encounter. The CPT code of an order determines the amount of the charge.

On the right side of the section, when the quicklist icon is clicked, you get the options to add a Charge or make a Payment. You can also see a list of charges added on a library, below.
Select quicklist icon, highlight "charge" and "payment.

In the Add Charge window, you can:
  • Select the item (Order)
  • Add the CPT code, although if the order has one, it will populate after selecting the order
  • Add reasons.  These are conditions, and you can select them from the patient's Problem List - Active or Inactive.
  • Add modifiers and there is a quicklist on the right that can help you do so.
  • Add quantity
  • Add price if not populated by the selected order/CPT combination
  • Add a memo
Select the Save button to save the charge. The charge appears in the Financials section.
Select "Charge" in quicklist, "Add Charge" window appears. Highlight "Item" field.

Highlight “Quantity” field. Highlight “Price” field.

Highlight “Memo” field. Select “Save” button. Highlight charge in section.

If a patient makes a payment during the encounter, record it in the Financials section of the encounter. 
Highlight "Payment" in Financials section quicklist.
The system automatically applies the current date to the payment. 
Enter the amount paid in the Price field and any additional information, such as a check or transaction number, in the Memo field.
Select the Save button to save the payment. The payment appears in the Financials section.
Select "Payment" from quicklist. "Add Payment" window appears. Highlight "Date" field. Highlight "Price" field and make entry.

Select “Save” button. Highlight payment in section.

The system records charges and payments after the encounter is closed and you can produce reports, statements, or invoices based on charges and payments recorded in the encounter.
Keep "Financials" section open.
